Welcome to the Hoosier state, also known as The Crossroads of America: the state of Indiana!

Indiana may be a "fly over state" located in the Mid-West, but there are plenty of fun activities and experiences to be made in the 17th largest US state.

Cheeseburgers stacked with spicy cheddar bites, unbelievably delicious Udon noodles, and more....I have listed out some top spots to eat in Indiana!

Indianapolis Hot Spots:

Tony's of Indianapolis

Located: 110 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN

Tony's is a well-known and popular steakhouse in downtown Indianapolis. This spot serves up the best porterhouse cooked to absolute perfection. This spot prepares and grills the best and most mouthwatering cuts of beef. We ordered a side of horseradish au gratin potatoes as well as freshly grilled asparagus. Our table also enjoyed the Pasta Pescatore (seafood pasta), the greek salad, and the complimentary bread and butter.

Tony's even offers fantastic live entertainment on the weekends. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is sophisticated yet inviting. This was my first time visiting Tony's of Indianapolis, but it definitely won't be the last time!

Amelia's

Located: couple locations in Indianapolis

Looking for a quick grab & go bite in Indianapolis? Make sure to stop by Amelia's for the best fresh-baked pastries and bread in town! We enjoyed the rhubarb tart, the ham and cheese biscuit, and more! Each pastry was fresh and unique. The cool part about this spot? There is a daily loaf schedule featuring new items! You can expect a bit of a line while you are there because of its popularity, but the line moves super quick because of great service! There are fresh snacks and refrigerated items that would be perfect for a date night or charcuterie board. Stop by Amelia's and try the rhubarb tart...I promise you will love it!

Bovaconti Coffee

Located: 1042 Virginia Ave, Indianapolis, IN

We needed a little coffee refuel while touring downtown Indianapolis and stopped at Bovaconti to help us out. We enjoyed hot mochas and iced mochas on the beautiful patio. This spot served up one of the best mochas I've ever tried! If you are looking for a wonderful coffee shop with a gorgeous interior, make sure to visit Bovaconti!

Four Fingers Distillery

Located: 630 Virginia Ave Indianapolis, IN

Looking for a unique spot to sip in Indianapolis? Make sure to stop by Four Fingers Distillery! Once called 1205, this distillery was renamed to Four Fingers after the owner accidentally cut off one of his fingers while installing a new front door! You can expect to enjoy great beverages in a homey and inviting distillery. This spot also has a glass wall so you can see the distilling process occur in house. There are a couple Four Fingers locations in Indiana that you should add to your Indiana bucket list!

Yard House

Located: Downtown Indianapolis

Although Yard House is not specifically local to Indianapolis, you can always guarantee a great meal and good service at Yard Houses! We went to Yard House in downtown Indianapolis when we were in town for the Indy 500. We needed a sit down spot that we could order a few appetizers and drinks at - Yard House is the perfect spot for that! We enjoyed a variety of items but the firecracker shrimp is a must try! Our table also enjoyed the massive club sandwich, the loaded queso dip, and more. If you are looking for a spot with reliably tasty courses with quick and inviting service, stop by a Yard House close to you!

Terre Haute Hot Spots:

Umi Grill & Sushi Bar

Located: 2002 S 3rd St, Terre Haute, IN 47802

Umi Grill and Sushi Bar is a fantastic restaurant to enjoy tasty sushi rolls, delicious udon noodles, perfectly seasoned fried rice, and more in Terre Haute, Indiana. If you haven't had the chance to try udon noodles, you must visit Umi! The large Nabeyaki Udon noodle bowl was packed to the brim and served with Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura for only around $15. The fresh Umi House Salad is served with star shaped carrots and costs around $5.

M Moggers Restaurant & Pub

Located: 908 Poplar St, Terre Haute, IN 47807

Mogger's is an incredibly unique spot to eat a tasty meal or enjoy a cold drink in Terre Haute, Indiana. I ordered the Cheese Curds appetizer for the table to start. These spicy, lightly breaded Wisconsin cheese curds are served with marinara sauce. For my main dish I ordered the Mega Cheese Burger. HOLY COW! There is a lot of cheese on this burger. The Mega Cheese Burger is topped with bacon, spicy fried cheese curds, cheddar cheese, and fondito queso. Step inside this unique old building and check out the fabulous decor and antiques.

Charlie's Pub & Grub

Located: 1608 Crawford St, Terre Haute, IN 47807

Charlie's Pub and Grub in Terre Haute is a fun spot to grab a meal or an adult beverage. I started the meal off with an order of fried pickle chips and the loaded fries for the table. I'll be ordering BOTH of these appetizers again when I come back to Terre Haute. I also ordered the small order of boneless Buffalo wings. I'd recommend try the Stingin' Honey sauce on the wings!

The service was quick and the food came out quick & hot. I highly recommend checking this pub & grub out. I know I'll be back!

The Terminal Public House

Located: 822 Wabash Ave, Terre Haute, IN 47807

Introducing The Terminal: a top restaurant find in Terre Haute, Indiana. The Terminal Public House offers delicious meals in decommissioned yet updated historic train terminal. Start you're table off with one of their many tasty appetizers. We tried the Wabash Shrimp & Crawford Street Wings Buffalo Style. For dinner, I ordered the Yellow Curry and was very pleased with the spices and consistency of the curry! You will not leave hungry if you order the curry entrée. Another table favorite was the signature seasoned pork chops with goat cheese mashed potatoes & veggies for under $20.

I'd highly recommend this spot for dinner in Terre Haute!

Taco Tequila's

Located: 423 Wabash Ave, Terre Haute, IN 47807

Looking for a great Mexican meal in Terre Haute, Indiana? Check out Taco Tequila's located near Indiana State University!

I ordered the Fajita Tequilas with steak, chicken, and shrimp served with rice & beans. The meat was seasoned to perfection and the vegetables were noticeably fresh. The chips are light and the salsa is mild and smooth.

Real Hacienda

Located: multiple locations in Terre Haute

There are a lot of local Mexican restaurants in Terre Haute to pick from, but I would highly recommend checking out Real Hacienda! I went to this Mexican restaurant a few times and always had a fantastic meal. The complimentary chips and salsa hit the spot. I also love the queso dip and the sizzling fajitas. There are plenty of seats inside and at the bar, but the highlight of this spot is the spacious and relaxing patio. Check out Real Hacienda next time you are in Terre Haute!

As I'm sure you know, there are plenty of amazing restaurants, cuisines, bars and grills in the state of Indiana that are not on this list. I listed some of my top locations and places I have visited, but if you have a top favorite, please feel free to send me an email and let me know! I love taking suggestions on where to visit/try. Below is a list of additional restaurants on my Indiana bucket list:
