One of the most unexpectedly fun stops I made while in Middleton, Wisconsin? The National Mustard Museum. And yes… it’s exactly what it sounds like. 😄
Inside you’ll find thousands of mustards from every U.S. state and countries all over the world, all displayed in this massive wall of jars. There’s also a mustard tasting bar where you can sample tons of different flavors — from classic yellow to sweet, spicy, and some seriously unique combinations.
Beyond the tastings, there’s a whole museum section dedicated to the history of mustard, plus plenty of quirky displays and memorabilia that make it a surprisingly entertaining stop. Whether you’re a mustard lover or just looking for something different to check out while in the Madison area, it’s definitely worth popping in.
1847 at the Stamm House
If you’re in Middleton, WI, add 1847 at the Stamm House to your list.
This place is packed with history (the building dates back to 1847!) but the food feels modern and elevated. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and perfect for a date night or dinner with friends.
We started with the truffle fries — crispy, salty, and the perfect way to kick things off. I ordered the 8 oz ribeye with mashed potatoes and a salad, and it absolutely delivered. The steak was cooked perfectly, super flavorful, and paired so well with the creamy mashed potatoes. Simple, classic, and done right.
If you love historic buildings, great cocktails, and upscale American cuisine that focuses on quality ingredients, this one’s worth the visit.
Grace Coffee Co
Another sweet stop I found while traveling for work in Middleton, Wisconsin ☕️
I popped into Grace Coffee Co and ordered a mocha latte — and it was so good. Smooth, rich, and exactly what I needed to power through the day.
They also had a great pastry selection (the chocolate croissants looked incredible), and the space itself was cozy with a modern feel. Definitely the kind of place you could settle into for a bit or grab something quick on the go.
If you’re in the Middleton area and need a solid coffee stop, this one’s worth checking out.
Hubbard Avenue Diner
While working in Middleton, Wisconsin, we stopped into Hubbard Avenue Diner for lunch (right next to the National Mustard Museum). It ended up being the perfect quick stop during our break.
This classic American diner has really cute retro vibes, friendly service, and a menu full of comfort food favorites. I ordered the half sandwich and soup combo — the turkey pesto sandwich was fresh and flavorful, and the white chicken chili was warm and delicious. 🍽️
They’re also known for their pies, so definitely consider saving room for dessert!
The Regal Find
One of my favorite things about traveling for work is discovering little gems I never would’ve found otherwise.
While in Middleton, Wisconsin, I stopped into The Regal Find — and ended up spending way more time inside than I planned (in the best way). This charming shop is filled with handmade jewelry, local art, vintage treasures, and unique gifts from over 125 U.S. artists, all tucked inside a historic building.
Every corner felt thoughtfully curated, and I loved just wandering and taking it all in. If you appreciate supporting artists and finding one-of-a-kind pieces, this is absolutely the kind of place you could spend a while exploring.
Such a sweet small-business stop if you’re ever in the area.
