Prairie Patch Farm
Located: Near Cedar Rapids, Iowa
If you've ever wanted to stay on a llama farm, Prairie Patch Farm, located just outside Cedar Rapids, Iowa, needs to be on your list! We stayed in a charming century-old farmhouse filled with rustic-modern touches and adorable llama décor. The best part? We arrived to llamas roaming right in the backyard, and they even came up to greet us on the front porch!
Beyond the llamas, you'll find goats, pigs, friendly farm cats, beautiful wildflower walking trails, and even a groovy llama barn complete with a disco ball! There's also a unique glamping tent tucked away on the property for another overnight experience.
It's peaceful, quirky, and full of personality. If you're looking for a memorable Midwest getaway that's anything but an ordinary hotel stay, this is such a fun hidden gem!

If you're planning a group or family trip to Northwest Arkansas, The Bluewood Retreat is a great home base in Bella Vista. My mom and I stayed here during our mother-daughter trip, and by the end of our stay, we were already talking about coming back with the rest of the family.
The home has 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and sleeps up to 9 people, with plenty of room to spread out. One of our favorite parts was all of the entertainment built into the house. There's a game room with pool, ping pong and shuffleboard, making it a fun place to spend time even when you're not out exploring.
The backyard is just as nice, with a hot tub, fire pit and spacious deck with plenty of room for a group to hang out. The house itself is beautiful, comfortable and feels especially well-suited for families, friend trips or a Northwest Arkansas weekend with a larger group.
Location is another big perk. It's about 5 minutes from the OZ Trails and 15–20 minutes from Bentonville, so you can easily explore the area while still having a spacious place to come back to at the end of the day!
My mom and I had a blast staying here, and this is one we'd genuinely book again — hopefully next time with the whole family!

I recently spent a girls' getaway here, and it was such a fun way to escape for a little while. The property features just four luxury geodesic domes, giving it a peaceful, secluded feel without sacrificing the comforts of a traditional stay.
Each dome has its own private hot tub and fire pit area, perfect for relaxing in the evenings. The large windows are one of my favorite features, bringing in tons of natural light and letting you enjoy the surrounding scenery right from inside. There's even a dog-friendly option if you want to bring your pup along!
I love finding unique places to stay, especially ones that make a simple weekend feel like a little vacation. Whether you're planning a romantic getaway or a weekend with friends, this is such a fun alternative to a traditional hotel.
Moon River Cabins
Located: Bellevue, Iowa
If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with incredible views of the Mississippi River, Moon River Cabins in Bellevue, Iowa, is a hidden gem worth adding to your list! Located in a charming river town just south of Dubuque, these cozy cabins combine vintage character with modern comforts.
The real highlight is the location! Imagine waking up, enjoying your morning coffee, and watching boats and barges travel along the Mississippi River. Select cabins even feature private hot tubs overlooking the water, outdoor TVs, and fire pits. The property also offers a sauna and pickleball court, giving you plenty of reasons to relax and enjoy your stay.
One of the coolest things about these cabins is their history! The original cabins date back to 1933, when they were built to house workers constructing the nearby Lock and Dam No. 12.
Whether you're planning a romantic weekend, exploring the Great River Road, or just looking for somewhere unique to unwind, Moon River Cabins is a wonderful place to experience Iowa's Mississippi River scenery!
Forest Springs Resort
Located: Eureka Springs, Arkansas
If you want to stay close to downtown Eureka Springs without giving up the peaceful Ozark setting, Forest Springs Resort is a great option. The boutique resort sits on 10 wooded acres just about five minutes from downtown, so you can spend the day exploring and then come back somewhere that feels much more secluded.
There’s plenty to enjoy without leaving the property, including a pool surrounded by the trees, walking trails, a Nordic sauna and cold plunge, pickleball and an outdoor fire pit. I especially love that it gives you a mix of nature and relaxation while still keeping you close to everything you came to Eureka Springs to experience.
It would be a great stay for a couples getaway, girls’ weekend or anyone who wants a slower place to come back to after a busy day exploring.
The Embers Glamping & RV Resort
If you’re looking for a unique place to glamp in Branson, The Embers Glamping & RV Resort is such a fun option! We got to experience both a bell tent and a treehouse tent, and they each offer a completely different stay.
The bell tent is quaint and cozy, with a bed, bench, small coffee pot, and a private deck where you can sit outside and look at the stars at night. Bell tent guests have access to shared bathroom facilities nearby.
The treehouse tent is absolutely gorgeous and definitely the more elevated glamping experience. Ours had a king-size bed, an additional smaller bed, a private bathroom, and its own hot tub!
Around the resort, there’s also a large pool, pickleball court, and shared fire pits. Whether you want a simple glamping experience or something a little more luxurious, I highly recommend checking out The Embers for a unique stay in Branson!
Origin Hotel
Located: Berkley Riverfront
If you are visiting Kansas City and need a hotel or simply a local looking for a staycation, look no further than this stunning hotel located right next to the Berkley Riverfront. At the Origin Hotel in Kansas City, you can expect clean and beautiful rooms, friendly service, a wonderful onsite restaurant (Show Pony), a full-bar with great vibes, and more. This hotel is within walking distance from the paved Berkley Riverfront Trail as well as the KC River Market area. I would highly recommend eating at the Show Pony while you are staying at the Origin. This upscale, delicious restaurant will have you craving to return. We had the best staycation at the Southmoreland boutique hotel in Kansas City (near the Country Club Plaza). Our room had a large and comfortable bed, a jacuzzi tub, a keurig in the room, and more. The rooms and personal bathrooms are immaculate and clean. This boutique hotel is walking distance from the Country Club Plaza and close to several brunch spots and coffee shops. There is a back patio with a fireplace and several spots to enjoy a morning coffee. Make sure to hang out in the stunning dining room, the patio room, and the beautiful living space to enjoy the full stay. The reservation and check-in process is seamless. Whether you are in town looking for a place to stay, or a current resident wanting a staycation, the Southmoreland on the Plaza should be at the top of your search list!
Palazzo at the Venetian Resort

We stayed at the beautiful and luxurious Palazzo Tower at the Venetian Resort while we were shortly vacationing in Las Vegas, Nevada and I would highly recommend adding to your list! The rooms are beautiful and spacious with a great view of the buzzing Las Vegas Strip. We had a view of the Sphere from our room and loved watching the images change. This hotel has a casino, conference rooms, and several restaurants onsite...you don't even need to leave if you don't want to! Add this hotel to your list of spots to stay in Vegas!
Ambassador Wichita
Located: Wichita, Kansas, USA
If you are looking for a hotel in Wichita that has more to offer than just a place to sleep, then you definitely need to visit the Ambassador. This hotel has incredibly comfortable beds and immaculate showers, a fantastic restaurant/bar on site, and great amenities. Did I mention the speakeasy in the basement? Head downstairs to enjoy speakeasy vibes with live entertainment. The Ambassador is located downtown Wichita and is within walking distance of several popular local businesses. I'd highly recommend staying at this hotel if you are planning a trip to Wichita.
Lamplighter Resort
Located: 210 Lamplighter, Camdenton, MO
The cutest and most affordable spot to stay at the Lake of the Ozarks has been found at Lamplighter Resort. These cabins fit 4 of us perfectly and is a short drive from the popular pool/bar in a cave: The Cave Bar. Our cabin was right next to the water and had a back patio to enjoy the views. There is a basketball hoop, an inground pool, a spot for a bonfire, a playground area for kids, and more. If you are searching for a family-friendly spot near the Lake of the Ozarks, this is a great location to look!
Bevier Campground
Located: Bevier, MO, USA
Warm weather calls for camping plans! Looking for a new spot to park your RV & camp in Mid-Missouri? This campground is located near Long Branch Lake in the Macon, Missouri area. The Bevier Campground has a pickleball court, play area for kids, swing sets, as well as an outdoor slip & slide...how cool is that?? While we were there, a wedding & reception was taking place at the campground community center! The electric & sewage hook-ups worked as they should...which is a plus! We parked in the back of the campground, next to the lake and the woods. I would highly recommend camping at this spot at least once this year!
VRBO Stay Near Zion National Park

This airbnb near Zion National Park is the perfect spot to stay with a large group of friends or family! There are 3 bed rooms with multiple beds, a large living room and dining space, a clean bathroom, in-house laundry units, and more. Only a short drive from the National Park entrance, this airbnb is a “must-stay”. Check out this spot next time you are vacationing in Utah!
