- Tucson & Bisbee, AZ Adventure
Wanting to plan a vacation to Arizona but not quite sure where to visit? Tucson & Bisbee are two spots you can knock out with a 3-4 day weekend that is packed with a ton of fun and great food. Keep reading! I flew out to Tucson, Arizona for my labor day weekend adventure to visit my college friend and her boyfriend. They showed me all around their new town and I can't wait to already go back! My favorite parts about Tucson and Bisbee: Seeing beautiful cacti everywhere you look (I repeatedly kept saying: "I wish I could just give that cactus a big hug!"....because they look so soft and huggable...from afar! I went while the the butterflies were migrating. Both Tucson and Bisbee were covered in colorful butterflies exploring the wilderness. And of course...I can't forget to add that seeing my college friend was heartwarming. As time goes on, some of your friends may move away or leave town and that can be bittersweet...but on the bright side...you get to go visit them in their new home and explore it with them! Depending on your travel time, you may have more or less availability to explore Tucson and Bisbee. I would highly recommend visiting both of these towns while you are in Arizona. Day 1 – Explore Tucson Day Pima Air and Space Museum The Pima Air & Space Museum should be at the top of your Tucson Bucket List! Imagine this: walking around an entire aircraft boneyard spread out over 80 acres. How cool does that sound?? There are nearly three HUNDRED aircrafts to look at. We were here for an hour and a half before the museum closed, but we could have spent SO much more time there! Mount Lemmon Mount Lemmon is the perfect spot to watch the sunset. We packed a cooler with sandwiches & cherry tomatoes with hummus (YUMMMMMAY!) Green Things This may seem like your typical "greenery" or "green house", but there is a TON to look at. I enjoyed walking around Green Things seeing butterflies floating around while I was learning the different types of cacti that encompasses the dry land. P.S. Check out the section below to read where to eat or grab a drink! Day 2 – Bisbee Event Day Travel from Tucson to Bisbee - We drove into Bisbee from Arizona and already had our tours booked. Here are some options: Queen Mine Tour Strap on your hard helmet, turn on your light, hop on board the mine coaster, and enjoy the tour! For less than $15, we were able to go into the heart of the Queen’s Mine. The Lavender Pit We only looked at the Lavender Pit from the lookout, but you can book a tour. One company will take you on a Lavender Pit tour in a jeep! Day 3 – Bisbee Explore Day There are a ton of shops to go in and check out: museums, antique shops, thrift shops, ice cream shops, and more! We spent a lot of time just driving through Bisbee because the winding, hilly streets made us feel like we were cruising around in Europe. We went on our own version of a Bisbee bar crawl this day. Below are some spots we checked out: Old Bisbee Brewing Co St. Elmo Bar Chuckleheads - Social Bar & Comedy Club Copper Queen Hotel - Restaurant & Bar Bisbee Social Club - We ended the night here! It's in a basement (which is a fun spin), a "hidden" bathroom and karaoke nights! Graffiti Wall & the Walkway of Art - both right next to each other! Day 4 – Explore Tucson Day 2 Saguaro National Park – "Icon of the Southwest" There are many trails you can take within Saguaro National Park. We didn’t have a ton of time, so we did a portion of the South Trail. Tips for Visiting Saguaro National Park: LATHER UP IN SUNSCREEN! The dry heat may give a misconception that it is not "that" hot out, but the sun can do some serious damage. Bring two water bottles per person or a large camelback. The dry heat will make you super thirsty and the last thing that you would want to happen is to end up with no water in the middle of a desert... (p.s. - Locals may also add Liquid I.V. to their water which is a hydration multiplier) Spray yourself with bug spray! You may not notice the little buggies flying around, but they sure love the way you taste! Don't leave the National Park with bug bites covering your body. Depending on how long you plan on being in the Park, pack a couple granola bars or trail mixes to keep yourself full of energy. Looking for where to eat in Arizona? There are so many tasty appetizers...it's hard to pick just one! I ordered the Spicy Chicken Ramen and was very happy with my meal. The sauce was seasoned perfectly and the spinach was super fresh. For dessert, we tried the green tea mochi balls and the chocolate mochi balls. If you have not checked out Jinya Ramen yet, make sure to add this to your KC bucket list! - Coffee Shop Hop in Kansas City
When Covid-19 entered our lives in a traumatic way, employers searched for ways to keep their income flowing while keeping their employees safe from the virus. Working from home has been great for thousands of people. Some employees feel the sense of independence, experience more productivity working remote, and they get to spend more time at home with family (including pups & cats) and keeping the house tidy! For some of us, working from home actually adds to our everyday stress and anxiety. Speaking from the view of an extrovert, I have found myself feeling less connected to my work because I'm no longer talking to my clients or associates in person. I find myself working from home during the day Monday - Friday for my full-time job, completing homework for an MBA program Monday - Sunday at home, eating and cooking dinner at home, keeping my houses clean (at home), doing yoga and working out (at home)...the list could go on! Needless to say: working from home means I am at home literally all of the time. Question: How could I switch this up??? The Messenger Location : 1624 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108 Arguably one of the most popular coffee shops in Kansas City is the Messenger located in the Crossroads District. The Messenger is very clean and sparkly! The pastries are baked right in front of you which leaves your mouth watering to try just about everything. The menu goes past just your typical breakfast items. You can even get salads or a sandwich if you stay working remote at the Messenger past the typical morning/breakfast hours. I have found myself starting with coffee & a pastry and working until about 1-2PM before going home to finish up working. I always enjoy getting lunch at the Messenger because of how fresh the food is. There are a few different spots you can choose to work from within the Messenger. The bottom floor is a great spot to work, but if you have calls to take, the first floor might be a little too loud. You can go upstairs to work with a little bit more peace OR you can sit outside on the rooftop patio to drink your coffee with a view. I love working outside on their rooftop patio because of the beautiful KC views. What to Order: I order the Ham and Cheese Croissant and a Mocha Latte (below) Market at Meadowbrooke Located : 4901 Meadowbrooke Pkwy, Prairie Village, KS The cutest coffee shop and market located next to a park with a paved trail found: Market at Meadowbrook. This is the perfect spot to go for a morning coffee, delish pastries, fresh sandwiches, and tasty grab & go items. Did I mention the adorable patio seating!? The patio and the paved trail next to this coffee shop is a great way to spend a weekend morning. We went to the Market at Meadowbrook on a weekend morning and enjoyed some coffee, a pastry, and a focaccia, prosciutto, and arugula special. Make sure to check out the market at Meadowbrook asap! Blip Roasters Location : 1301 Woodswether Rd, Kansas City, MO 64105 Community. Coffee. Motorcycles. Blip Roasters is a modern & spacious coffee shop in the historic West Bottoms of Kansas City. I ordered a cinnamon roll, latte, and a rounded up a tip for a total of $10! The cinnamon roll was massive, sweet, & mouthwatering. This is a great spot to work remote because of how open the environment is. Blip Roasters has plenty of tables and seating areas. When I visited, there were even some group meetings going on! While you are there, purchase some take home coffee beans or coffee merchandise from their small shop! Haven't checked out this coffee shop in KC yet? Add to your KC bucket list! Link to Blip Roasters Website Mildred's Location : 1901 Wyandotte St, Kansas City, MO 64108 Mildred's is a phenomenal spot work work remote, have a quick business sync, sip on coffee with friends, or to simply eat one of their amazing lunch/breakfast options! The breakfast burrito is a fan favorite. The space is very clean & has a modern look. Service is always friendly and quick (even if the line looks busy). Did you know you could even order a spiked coffee along with other adult brunch beverages?? Might be my favorite coffee shop in KC! Link to Mildred's Website The Roasterie Location : Multiple locations in KC There are a few different Roasterie locations that you can visit while in Kansas City. The Factory for the Roasterie is located at 1204 W 27th Street, Kansas City MO 64108 . The Factory location has a large decommissioned airplane in the air...you can't miss it! Inside of the Factory, other than buying coffee or a pastry, you can also explore their merchandise, take tour or explore how the coffee is made! If you know me well, you would know that I will order black coffee 9/10 times that I go to a coffee shop. It is a rare occasion when I actually buy a drink besides black coffee. Sometimes I will even buy a pastry! At the Roasterie, they serve very similar dishes/pastries that you will find at the Messenger. I would recommend trying a croissant! The wifi is strong! If you are working from home and your wifi starts acting up, come to the Roasterie! Link to the Roasterie Website Broadway Café Located : 4106 Broadway Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64111 This coffee shop is located in the Westport area of Kansas City and is within walking distance of several local shops, tasty restaurants, and fun bars. The Broadway Café is another spacious spot in Kansas City to work remote because there is plenty of seating. There are even a few tables outside of the coffeeshop to sit at on a warm, sunny day. Although they don't offer a full breakfast menu, there are some pastry items and yogurt parfaits. Link to Broadway Café Website Cafe Ollama Located: 523 Southwest Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108 Cafe Ollama is a cute and quaint coffee shop is located in the Crossroads area of downtown Kansas City. I ordered the Cafe de Olla Cold Brew and this was THE best cold brew I've ever had...I'm not being dramatic! I typically never order cold brews because I like to drink simple black coffee. The whipped topping was dense and creamy! If you need to grab coffee on the go, on a date, a quick 1-1 work meeting, or to work on your laptop for a bit, this is a great spot to go in the crossroads! Link to Cafe Ollama Website Hitides Coffee Located : 519 E 18th St, Kansas City, MO 64108 Aloha & Mahalo! Welcome to Hitides Coffee in the crossroads district of Kansas City. This Hawaii themed coffee shop in Kansas City is the perfect place to sip on some coffee, work remote, enjoy a date, or have a relaxing business sync/meeting. The entire building is covered in plants and offers a fun yet relaxing beach vibe. I tried the Sea Salt & Caramel Frappe (served hot) and a brownie. Their signature pastry is an upside down pineapple cake...don't miss out on this! Link to Hitides Website Crows Coffee - Waldo Location: 7440 Washington St, Kansas City, MO 64114 - Multiple locations I work at Crows Coffee AT LEAST 2-3 days out of the week because I love the vibe there. I work specifically at the Waldo Crows Coffee location. The breakfast burritos are phenomenal and the coffee is always delicious. I would recommend trying the breakfast burrito with the Verde salsa (yummy). Their Wi-Fi is always spot on and you will never lose connection. My favorite part about this coffee shop is that their walls are actually garage doors (of sorts) and they will completely open up the shop to let in the fresh air when it feels warm enough outside for it! The owner is always in the store and even will work the cash register. The staff is great and always make me feel like I can stay however long I would like to. Link to Crows Coffee Website Second Best Coffee Location: 328 W 85th St, Kansas City, MO 64114 Second Best Coffee in the Waldo Neighborhood is tucked away in a strip of other businesses (be sure to check out Miami Ice for delicious ice cream). This coffee shop is one of my top favorites because of how quiet and quaint it is. There are several other remote workers that will work in this shop because the Wi-Fi is fast and there are plenty of outlets for you to plug in your chargers. Their iced-coffee is very refreshing and they always have a nice presentation for your order. Link to Second Best Coffee Website City Market Coffee Location : 305 Main St, Kansas City, MO 64105 - River Market area I use to live right next to the River Market and would come down to City Market Coffee almost everyday to get coffee and a breakfast item. Their breakfast burritos are STUFFED full of delicious eggs, cheese, and bacon. There is a glass case of pastry items that can be warmed up by request. You can pick between fresh cookies, homemade versions of Pop-tarts, large muffins, and more. If you aren't feeling a pastry item, their shakes and smoothies will keep you full until lunch! This coffee shop is very popular because of its prime location inside of the River Market. The line may look long on the weekends, but you will get your coffee in no time at all and the happiness of enjoying your breakfast is definitely worth it! (P.S. I always get their chocolate chip muffin because it is just so tasty!!!) Link to Post Coffee Co Website Front Range Coffeehouse & Provisions Located : 400 E Gregory Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64131 - Brookside Area Front Range is a park, adventure, and nature themed coffee shop & café in the Brookside area of KC. Link to Main Street Coffee Hou se Website Third Space Coffee Located : 226 Oak St, Bonner Springs, KS 66012 I visited Third Space Coffee after hours during a KC Influencer Meet-Up and I was overly enjoyed with how cute this coffee shop is in Bonner Springs, Kansas. My favorite desserts that I tried at Third Space Coffee were the Chocolate Croissant and the S'mores Bar. The buttery and flakey croissant is loaded with the perfect amount chocolate chip. The S'mores Bar was chewy but soft and packed with marshmallow fluff and chocolate. You can't go wrong ordering any of the coffee options either. Link to Black Dog Coffeehouse Website Hattie's Fine Coffee Located : 4195 Somerset Dr, Prairie Village, KS 66208 The hot mocha drink I ordered was absolutely delicious! I would come back to Hattie's for the mocha coffee, but I would also come back just to spend time in this cool and cute space!
